A traumatic event is either a single event or series of events in which you felt your life or the life of someone else was at risk for serious injury or death. These events may include but are not limited to childhood neglect and abandonment; physical, emotional, or sexual abuse; sudden death of a loved one; diagnosis of a life-threatening illness; difficult pregnancy, labor, and/or delivery; sexual assault; domestic violence; war and political conflict; or natural disaster.

After the experience of a traumatic event or during a series of events, your life changes in ways you could never have imagined before. In fact, trauma is often so devastating because your brain, spirit, and psyche cannot make sense of the events that have taken place in the past or may be happening currently. However, you are not alone.
